Ennio Morricone
I’m not usually one for mourning the passing of the greats. But Morricone is different – his inventiveness, variety, longevity (he’s been creating music since 1935!), the resulting huge back catalogue (500 or so scores) and international reach put him on a step above most of our historic rock and pop stars.
His passing has had a noticeable effect on me, partly due to my obsession with ‘Cinema Paradiso’ which never fails to send a shiver up my spine and often produces tears. So here’s 5 tracks from Lazy Player that could never remotely cover the range of Morricone’s life, but hopefully gives a glimpse of his genius.
